Dr. P’s Mind-Body Skills Group
(MBSG) 10-Week Program
Dr. P’s MBSG is a comprehensive physician-directed 10 week program in part modeled after Jon Kabat-Zin’s Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program, arguably the most evidenced-based mind-body medicine group program offered at numerous respected medical institutions around the world.
Dr. P’s MBSG includes structural elements of MBSR plus an even more comprehensive menu of mind-body and body-mind skills beyond MBSR, and was awarded an Outstanding Wellness Award for the city of Tucson through Inside Tucson Business and Tucson Local Media.
Dr. P’s MBSG is a comprehensive intentionally designed, time-tested (10 years) mind-body medicine system that progressively builds week by week for the capacity of internal state shifts, parasympathetic activation, enhanced awareness, performance enhancement, & quality of life improvement.
Dr. P’s MBSG has also exhibited significant benefit for various clinical conditions including PTSD, anxiety, depression, chronic pain (many patients experiencing significant decreased opioid reliance), cardiovascular disorders, GI conditions, neurologic conditions, cancer, etc. in conjunction with one’s established healthcare team.
Dr. P’s MBSG provides pertinent didactics regarding the mechanisms of nervous system auto-regulation, the key regions of the nervous system central to internal mind-body state shifts, the impact of perception and prior conditioning, and the science of the mind-body connection.
Mind-body skills are used by professional athletes, actors, and others for enhanced performance, and provide various health benefits including a favorable impact on the management of stress, chronic pain, depression, anxiety, PTSD, addiction, cardiovascular disease, and other health challenges.
Dr. P’s MBSG also integrates cognitive behavioral exercises along with a range of evidence-based mind-body methodologies for attendees to favorably influence the impact of thoughts, emotions, prior experiences, and external stimuli, on one’s experience.

Coordinated mind-body skills also have a favorable practical impact on preparation for important meetings, other life events & challenges, while also improving overall life quality through enhanced awareness.
This comprehensive course runs 10 weeks with one experiential session each week for 2.5-3 hours, plus daily practice tools, and audio mind-body practice files between sessions that are fundamental to the program’s success.
This committed 10 week experience, beyond the array of mind-body skills, includes guidance for weekly home practice between sessions that reinforce experienced principles, including downloadable audio tracks to coincide with the skills covered in a given week.
The end result of Dr. P’s MBSG is participants have various mind-body skills to choose from as needed to complement life skills previously employed, with such skills supportive to one’s established healthcare experience.
Dr. P’s MBSG orientation is not an “either or” approach and is rather, integrative by appreciating the synergy with other healthy lifestyle approaches along with the benefits of other areas of medical science.
Motivation for mind-body skills acquisition, practice, and engagement, and an intrinsic interest in the acquisition of self-care skills in general, is central for the program’s success.
Additionally, a committed presence to the scheduled sessions is also key to the overall experience.

Please note that Dr. P’s MBSG is not a clinically driven program although often people will experience a range of benefits that can certainly translate to a positive impact on health challenges. We encourage you to maintain your engagement with your healthcare team as appropriate.
Strict confidentiality is established for the Dr. P’s MBSG experience. There are certainly opportunities for sharing your experience during the program as it unfolds over the 10 weeks with the attendees of the group, including your experience with the practices. However, there will be no pressure to share beyond your chosen level of comfort and again, strict confidentiality will be maintained during and post Mind-Body Skills Group.
Lastly, Dr. P’s MBSG stands in contrast to other Mind-Body Medicine oriented groups across of the nation as a result of the significant breadth of skills covered (various mind-body techniques from different systems to adapt to a wide range of preferences and proclivities), an emphasis on parasympathetic augmentation and frontal lobe brain enlistment, clarifying didactics and conveyed science that reinforces underlying principles, & cognitive behavioral elements that accentuate the experience of the mind-body skills.
